China Billionaire Became Biggest Shareholder of Daimler

China's billionaire Li Shufu bought a stake in auto giant Daimler. In fact, the man who also served as Chairman of Geely Automobile became the largest shareholder on an individual basis, amounting to nearly 10 percent.

Launched by Rushlane, written Tuesday (27/2/2018), Li Shufu has bought 9.69 percent stake in Daimler, worth 7.2 billion euros.

With the purchase of the stock, the man who ranks the 10th richest man in China and ranked 209th richest man in the world became the largest single stakeholder in the group from Germany.

The largest single shareholder in Daimler believes, if the automotive company should collaborate to respond to challenges from companies such as Uber, Google, Tesla, and so on.

So, Daimler became one of the companies to be a place of survival in the transformation of the automotive industry.


The reason, Daimler became one of the companies with a solid base, with the direction of the future goal is clear, because it has formed an alliance with other car companies.


For example, Daimler's subsidiary, Mercedes-Benz, has an alliance with Renault-Nissan at 3.1 percent in Daimler.

Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz has announced plans to build an electric car in China along with BAIC Moto Corporation.

Mercedes-Benz and BAIC Motors recently signed an agreement with the unveiling of a plant with an investment of US $ 2 billion.
